Recycling site relocated to Byron Health Center

As of Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, the Community Recycling Drop-off Site located at Sam’s Club on Lima Road closed. The new site is located at the parking lot adjacent to the Byron Health Center (12101 Lima Road). Open Tuesday-Saturday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The Indiana Recycling Coalition (IRC) named Jodi Leamon, Allen County Department of Environmental Management’s Sustainability Coordinator, one of 30 “Recycling Rock Stars” in Indiana.

Spring Brings Flower Power - A Gardener Symposium

ACDEM will present a talk about "Everyday Sustainability" with an emphasis on zero-waste living and composting. Reusable bags, reusable utensils, and Waste Watcher Guides will be provided to attendees.

About the Symposium:

Join the Allen County Master Gardeners for our 2020 Purdue Extension Gardener Symposium: Spring Brings Flower Power on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Purdue Fort Wayne, Walb Union. Registration and refreshments start at 8:15 a.m. Lunch will be provided. Educational talks continue throughout the day and will end at 3 p.m. This day-long educational symposium is open to the public. $40 per attendee.

Northeast Indiana Local Food Forum

Come learn and connect with the Northeast Indiana local food community. Jodi Leamon, ACDEM's Sustainability Coordinator, will present on the panel discussion "Charitable Food System: Food Waste Reduction and Feeding Hungry People." Jodi will be joined by representatives from the Society of St. Andrew Society and Community Harvest Food Bank to share how these organizations are keeping food out of the landfill and getting it to those in need.

31st Annual Health & Wellbeing Fair

Purdue University Fort Wayne is celebrating its 31st Annual Health and Wellbeing Fair. ACDEM will provide a waste reduction trivia wheel and educational resources about ACDEM's programs that are available to residents in Allen County free of charge. Attendees who participate in our trivia wheel will get drawn in a raffle. The raffle prize includes a duffel bag, bamboo utensil kit, food container, cup with carabiner, and a foldable to-go bowl.

Earth Day Fort Wayne

Join staff and friends of Little River Wetlands Project at Eagle Marsh for their annual Earth Day Fort Wayne event. This will be a fun, informative afternoon with family-friendly activities. ACDEM will provide information about our latest battery disposal campaign and other community resources for reducing waste and recycling!
