Following the Stay-at-Home order issued by Governor Holcomb, we have suspended the following programs:

- Household Battery Recycling
- Fluorescent Bulb Recycling
ACDEM’s Community Recycling Drop-off Sites will remain open until further notice as these operations meet the guidelines for essential business and activities for health and safety. View locations and hours here.
Recycling site relocated to Byron Health Center
As of Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, the Community Recycling Drop-off Site located at Sam’s Club on Lima Road closed. The new site is located at the parking lot adjacent to the Byron Health Center (12101 Lima Road). Open Tuesday-Saturday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Organic Waste and Composting
What to do with yard waste and other organic material like food scraps.
We've teamed up with Fort Wayne’s first-ever Eco Fest for a composting workshop! Our staff will offer a family-friendly introductory workshop to composting using tumblers (for backyards) and vermicompost (composting with red-wiggler worms for indoor environments). Need a container to store your food scraps in the kitchen? We’ll have those available for you too!

Join staff and friends of Little River Wetlands Project at Eagle Marsh for their annual Earth Day Fort Wayne event. This will be a fun, informative afternoon with family-friendly activities. ACDEM will provide information about our latest battery disposal campaign and other community resources for reducing waste and recycling!

Come learn and connect with the Northeast Indiana local food community. Jodi Leamon, ACDEM's Sustainability Coordinator, will present on the panel discussion "Charitable Food System: Food Waste Reduction and Feeding Hungry People." Jodi will be joined by representatives from the Society of St. Andrew Society and Community Harvest Food Bank to share how these organizations are keeping food out of the landfill and getting it to those in need.
